Gifting Perfume Guide - Dear August

Gifting Perfume Guide

Posted by Dear August on

Perfume and fragrance is one of the most gifted products for birthdays, valentines, and Christmas.

But fragrance is such a personal thing- how can you be sure you're purchasing the right perfume for your loved one?

Firstly, research is essential. Being subtle and asking that special someone some questions around their favourite smells, or what perfume they're currently wearing, can help narrow down which scent profiles they typically find appealing.

Even a sneaky look at which products they typically use for their body skin care can assist in determining the kind of fragrance they gravitate toward- do they go for something fresh, like citrus, or more woody, like cedar and sandalwood?

Secondly, it may be beneficial to gauge the intensity of fragrance they enjoy. Are they a "one spritz then quit" type of person, or someone constantly re-applying fragrance throughout the day? If they're chasing a longer-lasting fragrance, a roll-on can really help provide scent longevity while providing an compact perfume to take anywhere and everywhere.

Finally, try before you buy (well, sort of..). If you have the time, sampling a number of fragrances before deciding on that final "perfect" scent may be the best option to avoid disappointment.

Even if you choose to gift a variety of samples as a nice addition to a bigger gift- your loved ones are sure to appreciate the journey!
